We LOVE Florence

The Boscola Astoria room comes with breakfast....the breakfast here doesn't come close to the Hermitage, but that's ok.

Off we go....map in hand .... to find the Uffizzi art museum. If you have never walked the streets in Florence, get a map and you'll see the complexity. The streets are so narrow and some go straight, some curve, some twist. And some don't have street names!  It's like a city of alleys with lots of amazing shops. As we passed by each of these shops we knew we'd be in for a treat after the museum.

The Uffizzi was not just crowded....it was over crowded, but an experience. It's a good thing Faye told us to purchase our tickets in advance. We avoided long long lines!

After the museum we started walking through the streets. What was astounding was the presentation of the merchandise in each store:  gelato, chocolate, clothing, food ..... Really inviting!  The day ended up as a major shopping spree.... We had so much fun!  Our gelato was delicious!  Scroll down to see the results of our shopping spree!  Hint:  We had to buy a new suitcase to pack everything!

This was the view from the Uffizzi

Pastas in large quantities for lunch... Just pick what you want!

We chose Gelato when we saw this

A beautiful candy store!

Yes you are seeing correctly!  French fry pizza!

Gift wrapped chocolates

All the little shops and then you enter one that turns out to be a huge department store??

You walk here from street to street in and out of stores and then you come upon a huge piazza with towering enormous beautiful old buildings!

These are all our packages from the day!!!!

After resting in our room we went on a mission to find the cafe bar where we had seen a couple of pizzas we wanted to try. In the maze of streets, we finally accomplished our goal!  We shared a vegetarian and roasted potato pizza
