Happy Mothers Day

Our last day in Florence....We had a quick breakfast in our hotel and then walked to the Academy. Luckily , we had prepurchased our tickets as the lines were long!!! This museum has David by Michaelango and we both were so overwhelmed by the beauty , motion and detail in this work . We loved it!!! Anyone know what shape is in his pupils???That's a good question for my New Year's Eve party....

Next we went back to the synagogue as today we could get a tour of the museum and a look at the sanctuary . Very interesting . Had to go through metal detector and leave cameras and cellphones in locker. It's a grand structure, built in Moorish style where men and women sit separately.

We went for lunch at Eataly , a new market/ restaurant . (Faye...here's a new place for you). I had a burger & Edna had salad.
The rest of the afternoon, we just walked around and tried to take it all in. We were pretty tired, so we went back into the room to relax a bit. There is only ONE TV station in English..... CNN international. They seem to have a taped reel that is played over and over and over again. We got real tired of it, so we turned to a movie (in Italian). That didn't stop us.... as the movie rolled along, we took turns translating the lines based on what we saw.... What a great storyline we created!!! We had a good laugh over that

For  dinner, we went to a restaurant in a plaza and sat outside. Lovely....

Happy Mother's Day to all!!!! ..... And to us!

Truly impressive in person!

The Synagogue. No photos allowed inside the gates or in the Synagogue.... So this is it. What a beautiful place

Some beautiful sites in Florence

Tourists stopping to take a photo of the Duomo!

I couldn't resist this one
Or this..... Look closely

This is the view from our Terrace... looks like a postcard!

Great movie.... We should be writers....or not!
